International Day of Charity, September 5th, is the perfect time for National Express Transport Solutions to reminisce over the past year of activities we all have done to raise money for our Charity of the Year, Help for Heroes.
Our relationship with the Armed Forces started way back in 2013. National Express Group was the first company to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant and supports the Armed Forces with career opportunities, training for PCV driving licence and travel discounts. To find out more, please visit armedforcescoventant.gov.uk.
This then sparked a potential partnership back in December 2021 with Help for Heroes…
As you all may remember, in April 2022, our social feeds were full of posts about the Invictus Games where National Express Transport Solutions were the Official Transport Partner for the UK Team. We transported the team, the staff and all the families to the Netherlands to compete at The Hague 2020.
From this event, our relationship grew with Help for Heroes and not long after Help for Heroes became our Charity of the Year and our fundraising has not stopped! The teams across the company have been involved in a range of activities such as office dress downs, raffles, open days etc, and looking at more and more for 2023.
In May 2022, The Kings Ferry held an Open Day at the Gillingham depot where we saw the local community come down and enjoy our VIP tours, Raffle and Tombola and met Ted, our Safety bear.
Lucketts Travel opened its yard to the public in August 2022 where prizes could be won from local football teams; Portsmouth FC and Southampton FC, alongside lots of other family fun. At both open days, we were delighted to welcome the Help for Heroes stand and their Army Bear.
Being the coach hire division of National Express meant we got to show off our new (and shiny) National Express Transport Solutions coaches, plus Lucketts got the opportunity to display a vintage National Express coach to promote their 50th anniversary!
In all, the fundraising has been not only fun for staff and families but also rewarding. In total, the teams at Transport Solutions have raised an amazing £2,300 - and it's going up and up each day!
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all employees at National Express Transport Solutions for their contribution to our fundraising and a big thank you to Help for Heroes for their support.
