Champions League Final (2011, 2013 and 2017)
Location: London Hotels & Venues, Wembley Stadium
Background

The UEFA Champions League is a renowned club football competition involving European clubs within the top division. The 2011 and 2013 Champions League Finals were both held in the UK at Wembley Stadium, with the 2017 Finals held in Cardiff. Transport solutions were required for VIPs, Teams, Supporters, Staff and Guests. The Kings Ferry, part of National Express Transport Solutions, was appointed the official transport provider for UEFA, as well as event sponsors.

Our Transport Solution

Upon each contract award, a project manager was immediately assigned to each client to ensure a bespoke service was provided. In the lead-up to the event, monthly internal meetings were held with our project teams to discuss requirements and ensure we had sufficient resources in place as well as appropriate standby vehicle and driver levels. In addition to the use of our owned fleet, partner operators were utilised to ensure the smooth running of the duration of the hire.

Client meetings with UEFA and the FA at Wembley were held as well as meetings with the Wembley parking team to coordinate the layout of sponsor parking. All clients transported were provided with coach routes and timings to assist with the planning of their respective itineraries. Internally, drivers undertook training to ensure the smooth running of all transfers provided.

To ensure peace-of-mind and successful delivery of the event, 30 ground staff were stationed on-site at Hotels, Wembley Stadium and the Champions League Festival in addition to dedicated staff monitoring operations from our own offices. This was to guarantee that all coaches arrived and departed according to the various ETA’s and reported back to the ground staff at the opposite ends who were waiting ready to receive coaches so that they could park in their designated spaces and begin unloading.

In total, we managed over 600 coach movements and 240 car movements for both the 2011 and 2013 Finals and pre-event days.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being an important part of our team and helping us to deliver yet another successful UEFA Champions League Final for our client Ford Motor Company. I have had nothing but good feedback from our team, clients and guests alike. Without KFC’s professionalism and support, we would never have gotten through this day. On a personal note, I would like to thank you for listening to my feedback from 2011 and showing Imagination that you value our business, it was a proud moment to come down to the coach park on Saturday night and see all of the KFC coaches lined up, I appreciate the time and effort this must have taken. Once again thank you for your hard work, it has been a real pleasure to work with you all and we look forward to working with you again in the future, I will ensure that all of my colleagues are aware of the great job you have done for us.”
