Notting Hill Carnival

Published: 26th January 2022

The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event that has taken place in London since 1966 on the streets of Notting Hill, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This colourful event celebrates Caribbean Culture; artistic talents and creativity; the enhancement of community spirit and innovative platforms, and overall embracing cultural diversity.

As always, with large-scale events the safety of the public is paramount. With large crowds of people, there is always an element of risk. As a result, the Metropolitan Police are on high alert, ensuring the safety of carnival-goers and organisers.

Year-on-year we provide the Met with over 200 coaches to transport offices from various police stations across London and Kent to the annual event. This is a logistically challenging hire due to the unknown duration each vehicle is required for - but as always is managed effectively by the Kingsferry and Clarkes of London operational teams.

Due to the continued success of this job, the partnership is now into its 10th year of the contract and has in the last two weeks been renewed again for another 18 months.
