From Island to Anywhere in One Ticket with Hovertravel

Getting from the Isle of Wight to destinations across the UK is now simpler than ever, thanks to through-ticketing from Hovertravel, Southern Vectis and National Express – allowing passengers to book their entire journey in one easy step.

Customers travelling from Newport, Cowes, Ventnor, Sandown and Shanklin can now purchase a single, convenient ticket that covers every leg of their journey – including their Southern Vectis bus to Ryde Hoverport, the 10minute hovercraft crossing to Southsea, and their onward National Express coach travel to towns and cities nationwide.

Available to book online or in person with Hovertravel, the integrated tickets remove the need to arrange multiple bookings separately, offering a seamless, stress-free way to travel from the Island to the mainland and beyond.

Hovertravel’s iconic hovercraft – the fastest way to cross the Solent – gets passengers to the mainland in just 10 minutes, where they can connect directly to National Express services from Southsea Terminal or nearby The Hard Interchange in Portsmouth. For coaches departing from The Hard, Hovertravel’s dedicated Hoverbus transfer between the terminal and interchange is included within the through-ticket at no extra cost.

The partnership brings together three trusted transport providers – Southern Vectis, Hovertravel and National Express – delivering a smooth, comfortable and reliable journey from doorstep to destination.

Julie Horrocks, Head of Business Development, at Hovertravel, said:

“We’re always looking for ways to make travel simpler and better value for our customers. These new through-tickets mean passengers can book their entire journey in one go, from their local town on the Island to destinations right across the UK. Combined with our 10-minute Solent crossing and highly competitive prices (such as £35 from Newport to London), it’s a fast, convenient and affordable way to travel.”

Whether heading to London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester or hundreds of other destinations on the National Express network, travellers can now enjoy the reassurance of one ticket, coordinated connections and a straightforward journey.

Through-ticket benefits include:

  • Travel to and from the Isle of Wight with Hovertravel and National Express on one ticket

  • A 10-minute Solent crossing via Ryde Hoverport

  • Southern Vectis bus travel from Newport, Cowes, Ventnor, Sandown and Shanklin included

  • Direct National Express coach services from Southsea Terminal and Portsmouth The Hard
